Day 22

Birthday Boy at his party. The gymnastics place is his favorite spot on earth right now, so it was perfect to have his friends there for an afternoon of jumping around like monkeys. And, he collected food and donations for the local animal shelter to boot.

Day 21

I got nuthin' today. It was this or another shot of the cat. Not that you won't see the cat again...

Day 20

The boy at gymnastics class. He's getting ready for his evaluation into the boys' Gold class, at which point he will start preparing for competition.

Day 19

Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur
Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr, purr, purr...

Day 18

Nine. This is what NINE looks like. Goofy grin, missing tooth, crazy-go-nuts hair. And I love every monkey molecule of his being. Happy Birthday, little boy!

Day 17

Knots. Looks so easy when the den leader does it. Not so much when you have to do it yourself!

(and, yes, I know. The photo was taken last night. It counts. According to my rules, anyway. And this is my game, so I get to make the rules up as I go.)

Day 16

Not long after we left Horseshoe Bay and Marble Falls, we saw this herd of Longhorns contentedly munching in the field alongside the road. Until now, the only Longhorns I've seen outside of Royal Memorial Stadium have been at the zoo. Hook 'em!

Day 15

Nearly perfect evening on the lake, after an amazing day of relaxation and friendship. That's what I like about Texas!

Day 14

Woke up this morning in Glasgow. 14 hours of airport/plane time, 45 minutes waiting for baggage/customs, 45 minutes driving home, 15 minutes at home and then 5 hours later, we arrive at Horseshoe Bay. Let the pampering and relaxation begin!!

Day 13

I wandered around the inside of the main university building during the break in my sessions, and lo and behold, turned a corner and found the Cloisters! What a lovely surprise on a really beautiful fall day, and a fitting way to wrap up my Scotland trip.

Day 12

Had fish and chips for lunch today at this pub across the street from campus. Apparently it is a fairly authentic pub. I don't know about that, but the three older gentlemen wearing wool sweaters, caps and scarves who stopped to chat with us seemed authentic enough!

Day 11

Church across the street has been converted into a restaurant. It took me a couple of shots to realize that the colored lights change every few minutes. Yeah, it's been a long day.

Day 10

I paid for snacks at the market down the street with a 10-pound note and got a handful of metal as change. My wallet is bulging with all these odd little coins.

Day 9

Stirling Castle, outside Glasgow. This is the view from a keyhole window inside the King's kitchens, overlooking the cemetery and, in the distance, the William Wallace monument.

Day 8

The Kibble Palace at the Botanical Gardens in Glasgow. Not a large collection, but the building itself is very nice, and the statues inside were lovely, as was the diversity of the plants.

Day 7

Thought I'd give everyone a break from the Harry Potter Castle building on campus. This was taken at the Fruits & Roots market down the street from the hotel.

Day 6

Someone on the project referred to this as the Harry Potter building. It is amazingly detailed and I love the light on it a few minutes before sunset.

Day 5

London's Heathrow Airport, Terminal 5. Remember that I have regularly flown out of New York's JFK and DFW, two of the US's largest and busiest airports. Two hours coming through here blew my mind. Wow.

Day 4

For some reason, I always think of Thinner by Stephen King when I see cherry pie.

NOTE: for the record, I took the photo on Tuesday 10/14, but had issues with my laptop before I left the country for work that prevented me from posting it until today. I wrongly assumed we would have interwebs on the plane, and now is the earliest that I have been able to post. It will have to do.

Day 3

Great show. I had tears running down my face during "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For."

Day 2

Time out.

Boys lost 4-3 in overtime. Tough loss to a really good team.

Day 1 (redux)

OK, not the best practice for the first day, but I like this one waayy better than the original. Mostly, I was afraid I wouldn't get back to the hotel in time to upload the photo, so I did one before the reception. Should have waited.

Nothing to see, nothing to see...

Move along (for now). The project and the postings will begin on 10/10/09. I was going to do it on 10/15, but I like the idea of 10/10 better. Plus, I'll be at a wedding that day, so wedding pix are always good, right?

Stay tuned!
