Hey, check that out! I'm famous, ma!! Look what we found in the sports section of our local daily paper. My 9-year-old was duly impressed!

Day 113

Pinewood Derby Day for Pack 15. Lots of chaos and itty little cars flying down the track. My Bear placed second in his den and got an award for "Most Realistic" car.

Day 112

Party cat wears a lampshade.  This is what I deal with in terms of co-workers.  I'm not completely unhappy with it, but if you ask an office colleague to leave you alone and let you work, they don't take it out on you by scratching up your sofa or coughing up a hairball on your bed.  I'm just saying.

Day 111

The Third Grade Bottle Project. Somewhere under all the felt, pipe cleaners and googly eyes is an empty bottle of Dawn dishwasher detergent. Now, it's the Father of Our Country.

Day 110

Baby cat is being nosy, as usual. She was actually looking for her twist-tie toys - we usually find four or five of them under the couch, just out of her reach. She's a mess.

Day 109

As you can see by the time on the clock, it's late. I promise that one day, I will pick up the real camera instead of the cell phone and actually capture a more blog-worthy photograph. Just isn't going to be today. G'night, all.

Day 108

Scout project tonight was this nifty little wallet that can open from either side.  Apparently, it works best if you close it, pause dramatically, wave your hand over it, and then open it the other direction.  The design was done from some stencils.  The paw I like, the lizard, not so much. We still haven't decided how to put his money in there so it doesn't fall out, though...

Day 107

Duck!!!  On the way to the gym this morning on my supposed-to-be 20-miler, I stopped and hung out with the ducks at Gateway Park.  I've always liked this itty little park, about half a mile from all the madness of the mall and the Highlands shopping center and the Cost-too-Much.  It's a nice serene break from the hustle of the suburbs.  The ducks sure seem to like it.

Day 106

Today while I was trying to take her picture, Miss Princess Summer Blossom, supreme ruler of our house, decided she would come toward me every time I focused on her. She was much more interested in seeing the camera up close than in being pretty for it. Now I have to move her off the bed so I can go to sleep. Yeah, good luck there.

Day 105

Yes, another photo of a Texas sunset. Can't help it. We get some pretty amazing sunsets here, even in the midst of suburban sprawl. We should start getting some *really* cool clouds once we move into spring storm season, but for today, I thought this was pretty neat, too.

We had a special guest in our consulting contracts class this week.  Yes, Mr. Bill, my sentiments EXACTLY!!

Day 103

Back at the hotel, on the way to the room.  Not much exciting to photograph today, except the inside of a conference room and the inside of the elevator.  Tomorrow, if you're good, you might get the inside of an airplane.

Day 102

This is the view from my hotel window in Santa Clara, California.  About two seconds after I took this, right when I was opening the suitcase to find my running shoes, the skies opened up and drenched everything, including my motivation to run.  Bah. It is lovely here, though, torrential downpour notwithstanding...

Day 101

I really intended to go to the park today and enjoy the afternoon sun and warmer temps. But, three days of hockey games and a long run left me fairly exhausted, and it was all I could muster to get outside the front door and take this shot of the pre-dusk sky.

Day 100

I ran from home through most of Arlington and up into Euless for today's hockey game. I crossed two highways along the way, and on I-30, I got to use the new pedestrian walkway on the Center Street bridge. The new bridge was built to accomodate heavier traffic from the Cowboys' Stadium, and it is a really nice addition to our city (even if it is at the top of a steep incline...).

Day 99

The overnight rainstorms and crisp temperatures left a gloriously fresh scent in the air. And because of the recent showers, I had the park paths all to myself. It made for a great start to the day.

Day 98

Damn you, Girl Scouts!  You and your tasty, delicious, crack-filled cookies!  YOU are the reason I must run 150 miles this month or otherwise 'splode like the little berry girl in Willy Wonka. Argh!

Day 97

"These aren't the droids you're looking for." I got nuthin' else. I tried taking photos while out on my run tonight, but the camera (and phone, actually) are both dead, dead, dead. So, you get R2.

Day 96

The eye of judgement? The eye of the storm? The eye of the tiger? The eyes of Texas? Yeah, we'll go with that one!

Day 95

Don't ask. Let's just say I was on the sixth of six sprints when I went down. And although I didn't have pink gloves to break my fall, I ended up mostly OK. Just be glad I didn't post the photo of the knee....

Just about the time I thought, "Hmm, not sure what I'm going to do about the picture of the day," I heard the unmistakeable clamor of light sabers from the other room. Problem solved!

Day 92

Mama, it's COLD outside!  On the way to my 5k early this morning, I passed this creek/pond area right off the main street.  It's been in the 20s and teens for most of the week - very odd weather for North Texas. It's not very often that we get cold enough to freeze out the ducks!

Day 91

Race ready. It's only a 5K, but it's the middle miles of a long run scheduled for 16. Which will just about match the outside temperature... Oy. Have I mentioned that I'm in TEXAS!? But it must be done, and it will be done. Once I get there, I have no choice but to turn around and run home. Post-race snacks will serve as fuel for the last 10K home. And tomorrow night? More apple-cherry pie!

Day 90

So, ideally, there would be a great burnt-orange tribute or something here today, celebrating another National Championship. And yet, not so much. Instead, I drowned my sorrows in a nice warm-from-the-oven cherry-apple pie with Bluebell. It kinda made it better. No, not really.

Day 89

During a particularly boring workout this evening (nine miles on a treadmill - you can remove the spork from my eye now), I had lots of time to think about why I do this running thing that I do. Little shiny things aren't the only reason, but they are definitely high on the list!

Day 88

This little guy looks like he's made of chocolate, but sadly, he's not. If he was, I wouldn't mind having so many Lego pieces all over my house!

Found this pinecone in a drawer the other day, and it's been sitting patiently on my nightstand waiting for its portait session.
